England All Time XI

England Lifting World Cup in 1966 Above.

GK=Peter Shilton – Was one of the first names that popped into my head when making this team, was England’s best GK and is until this day many say Hart will overtake but I say no-one is good as Peter Shilton goalkeeping wise. Gordon Banks is not far off Peter Shilton though.

RB= Jimmy Armfield was a great RB making 43 apperances for England but scored 0 goals unfortunately but that doesn’t make him a great player. He could have made more appearances but had a tragic car accident which caused him to lose sight in one eye unfortuanely. Jimmy Armfield was another player who was loyal to his club – Blackpool he was at Blackpool for 17 years his whole career and scored 6 goals having 569 appearances

CB= Bobby Moore was a great defender for England, most famous for winning the World Cup with England their first time ever and is until this day. Bobby Moore also played for West Ham and won the FA Cup with them. Bobby Moore is one of my all-time favorites for England. Bobby Moore tragically died in 1993 of cancer. Bobby Moore is an England legend and always will be.

CB= Terry Butcher was a fearless defender, he continued with a severe head wound against Sweeden in 1989 the bravery he showed was unforgettable and this is why I have included him within the England XI.

LB= Stuart Pearce was England’s best LB many of you may disagree with me. He is famous for his thunderous free-kicks. Stuart Pearce sits beside Capello, he manages England u21?s and is set to manage the team GB Olympics team he is very inspirational and I think one day he may step-up to the England job and I think he is the right man to do so.

RM=  David Beckham is one of was best players around at his time, he won several cups with Manchester United the most recognizable being the Champions League. He recently won the MLS cup with LA Galaxy. He was one of England’s finest crosser’s and free-kick taker.

CM= Bobby Charlton played either Centre Midfield or as a Forward, he is England’s top goalscorers and still remains as it 40 years later defiantly deserves a place in the England XI.

CM= Bryan Robson was England’s captain – a very inspirational man which is needed to be as England’s captain, played a  part in guiding England to the second World Cup final appearance ever.

LM= Tom Finney was a great winger for England scoring 30 goals, voted Footballer of the year twice. He played for Preston for his whole career (14 years) a loyal man to Preston and also made 433 appearances scoring 187 goals!

ST= Jimmy Greaves is England’s third top goalscorer and also top goalscorer for Tottenham, also played for Chelsea scoring 124 goals! He is one of the greatest strikers England has ever seen. Twice the player of Wayne Rooney.

ST= Gary Lineker came one goal behind England’s top goalscorer Bobby Charlton. He was a great striker with his pace. He now plays a part in doing the T.V Show on BBC 1 called Match of the day. Lineker also played for Leicster scoring 95 goals!
