Liverpool FC wide of the mark…..not so much.

Liverpool are a fallen giant struggling to regain the hights of the late 70s , 80s and more recently the sucsess of Rafael Benetiez’ reign at the club, He was followed by Roy Hodgson id rather not talk about that afair it was hard to watch at times defensive at home no bite up front.

Now King kenny is back he has had well over 100 million pounds to spend bringing in the likes of Luis Suarez from Ajax & 35 million record signing Andy Carroll from Newcastle in the last January window, the summer came and the king was backed yet again by FSG (fenway sports group) liverpools owners, bringing Jordan Henderson, long term target Charlie Adam, Stewert Downing, Sebastian Coates, Criag Bellamy and jose Enrique, the new boys seemed to get off to a fantastic start Suarez and Enrique out-shining the rest allthough Bellamy has put in some good performances in recent weeks.

At the moment liverpool sit in 7th position in the Barclays Premier Leauge 5 points off 4th place, The clubs aim for the season a return to Champions Leauge football was underlined as the target by fans, players and owners alike and while this is still a very achievable goal for the club doubts are being raised by many the main reason for this is the reds shakey home form and lack of goals this term.

Andy Carroll has but 4 goals to his name since is big money move from hometown club Newcastle almost a year ago he arrived injured and was expected to hit the ground running after a good pre-season with his new team however big andy has struggled for form and game time partly due to his new strike partner Suarez impact on the side proving himself to be a vital part of the team working so well in a sole role as the main focal point of the reds attack, this has seen big andy warming the bench more often than not this season.

On the rare occasions the big geordie has been on the pitch he has failed to recapture the form he showed for Newcastle bullying defenders scoring goals using his big frame to aid him strength being his biggest attribute he was never going to be a twinkle toes player he is in essence a battering ram, but thus far he has not looked in shape or as strong going down at the slightest touches leaving some to question his abillity i believe he is a good player but he feeds off the confidance of knowing he will be getting the service he needs to score whitch he isnt getting from his teamates.

While Liverpool have been creative this season with suarez in the side even then they have been misfiring in the goals department scoring only 24 all season had liverpool had the same strike rate in front of goal as Manchester united they would have scored 53 goals and be much higher up in the leauge (thats not my statistic i saw it somewhere a while back it has likely changed but the point stands).

Luis suarez has been banned for 8 games for racially abusing Manchester Uinited left back Patrice Evra this has thrown Andy Carroll into the team being Liverpools only noteable striking option and while the lad has looked to be improoving recently bagging his first goal in several months in the 5-1 FA cup 3rd round win against Oldham whitch came from a short 10 min cameo and to be fair he could have scored again missing a free header from 6 feet out, at times in the 3-0 defete at the Ethiad staduim he was isolated and not one of his teamates showed any desire to get up and help the big striker im not so sure you can blame Carroll for this he did his bit.

Players like Adam, Downing and Bellamy are expected to provide quality service for him and they have failed to do so constantly hitting the first man from set peices schoolboy errors. liverpool need to invest in this transfer window if they have any hope of finnishing in the top 4, the last game at home against stoke was yet another 0-0 draw this has been the theme of liverpools home form so far draws against lets be fair lesser teams Swansea, Norwich, stoke, teams liverpool are expected to beat at home the reasons i think they failed to do this are

1. Lack of creativity in the middle the return on Steven Gerrard should help this but i feel the reds are crying out for a player in the mold of David Silva to fill the void between the strikers and the midfield potential players to fill this gap i think are. Raheem Sterling a youth player who is gathering a big rep within the club and surely cant be long before he is given a chance he deserves or Phillipe Couthinio a young brazillian playing at inter milan who has been linked in recent weeks with a move to mersyside but maybe a more experience player would be a safer option i for one think Yossi Benayoun should never have been let go.

2. No width at all Downing isnt performing no assists and one goal for a player of his experience and talent is not good enough, Dirk Kuyt isnt a natural winger, Craig Bellamy  cannot play 2 games in a row due to knee issues the club desperatly need to invest in some top quality wide men to give the side more balance, Milios Krasic of Juventus is said to be unsettled i think he is worth a punt great pace and a good right foot.

3. There is no natural finnisher at the club anymore the loss of fan favourite Fernando Torres left a void in the squad and the hearts of the supporters that has been filled some by the impact of Luis Suarez what a pair they would have been, So a poacher is needed this may be the biggest issued that needs a soloution sooner rather than later, there are youth players like Adam morgan that some are calling to give a chance to but i feel an established player is needed for this role the club has been linked with a number of forward this month, Moussa Sow is looking the most likely in recent weeks saying liverpool would be a “dream move” Joe Cole could be used as a make way in an possible deal, Edison Cavani has also been talked about many fans first choice given his international partnership with Suarez this would cost a fair bit and i sense FSG are reluctent to splash out a great deal this window so if that were to happen (i hope it does!) it would be a summer deal for sure and last but not least a return for Torres given his bad run of form at Chelsea i wouldnt rule it out stranger things have happened in football i for one would love this to happen i am a Liverpool fan and it still hurts seeing El Nino in a blue shirt all would be forgiven if he came back and scored goals as he once did.

So to sum up i think if the owners back the manager and he realises the squad needs adding to there isnt much else that needs doing the team currently is good but just lacks that bit in the attack.

This is my first post i hope people like it please let me know

Thanks, Aaron.
