On 29th May the whole football world impatiently waited a tweet. Eden Hazard had been the subject of Transfer Speculation for quite a while now and was subject to a move to either Man United or Man City. Both clubs wanted him and after the final day of Ligue 1 Hazard announced that Chelsea had joined in his pursuit and this will delay his decision As the Champions League winners proposal had him interested. So when he tweeted ‘Im signing for champion league winner’ he received millions of Hate tweets. The MUFC and MCFC fans were irritated by the fact that hazard who had been flirting with the clubs by saying He’ll play in Manchester next season had eventually snubbbed both in favour of a lucrative contract from Abramovich.
So what made Hazard so wanted? Last season Eden Hazard guided Lille OSC to the Ligue 1 Title and put in some breathtaking performances. Goals assists Flair and pace, he had it all. Dubbed as the next Cristiano Ronaldo, Hazard attracted interest from all around Europe but eventually Chelsea signed the Belgian who scored 22 goals last season at the tender age of 21. But the question is will he be a success at Chelsea or not?
Roman Abramovich ever since his sides Champions League triumph has been ambitious and has already signed Marko Marin, Hazard and a move for Hulk looks likely. Hazard announced before signing that he would want regular playing time and to play in his preferred position. The attacking midfielder or the no.10 position but currently at Chelsea, Juan Mata has done a superb job and he will surely not be overlooked. Hazard will cost CFC 32 Million without the bonuses. A big Risk for someone who has only 2 goals for his country. Last time Chelsea paid such a huge fee they endured a Flop in Fernando Torres who has been better this season but was down the pecking order behind Drogba. No one wouldve suspected a 50 Million signing to warm the bench and miss open goals. Players and Managers at CFC who have a bad stint are usually shifted to the subs or sacked. Huge risk at Cheslsea this. Hazard if he fails to perform like Deco Torres and Shevchenko will ruin his career.
Hazard has that game changing ability and if he thrives in a team full of talents and cement a place in the starting line up and the fans hearts, life in London will be sweet but if he fails he will largely regret not choosing the other two possiblities. All the Best to Eden for season 2012/13.
